Tactile Magazine

The Brief

Editiorial Art Direction, 2023
Tactile Magazine marks the culmination of my master's thesis—a contemporary, independent art, and craft publication dedicated to evalvating handmade artwork in the digital era.

Mirroring the renewed interest in crafts and the growing prefrence for print formats, particularly among millennials and Gen Z. However, existing publications predominantly cater to a professional audience, limiting access for a younger demographic.

The Target

Editiorial Art Direction, 2023
Tactile caters to a diverse demographic aged 18 to 35, connecting seasoned artists pushing creative boundaries with individuals aspiring to commence, advance, or broaden their engagement in manual arts. Profiles include:

Established Artists: Accomplished creatives seeking innovative content and advanced techniques to enhance their work and gain exposure through feature opportunities in the magazine.

Eager Students:
Those with some experience value Tactile for its practical tutorials and rich artistic inspiration.

Newcomers:
Tactile acts as an entry point for newcomers, providing beginner-friendly content and comprehensive step-by-step guides.

The Outcome

Editiorial Art Direction, 2023
Tactile’s visual identity serves two important roles:

Fusing Contemporary and Traditonal Aesthetics:
The new visual identity blends Swiss design principles with traditional analog art, layering a contemporary type and hand-drawn illustrations for a dynamic and authentic visual experience.

Digital and Print Integration: Ensure a consistent visual identity across both digital and print platforms for a unified brand image.
